CWC Database
Work on compiling the Missionary Periodicals Database began at the end of 1997 under
the auspices of the University of Cambridge's North Atlantic Missiology Project,
which promoted scholarly analysis of modern Protestant missions.
It continued during the second phase of that project -
the Currents in World Christianity Project, which commenced in early 1999.
This was a three-year international research project on the growth and impact
of Christianity in the non-Western World. Both phases of the project were
funded by a grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts of Philadelphia and based
in the Centre for Advanced Religious and Theological Studies in the Faculty
of Divinity at the University of Cambridge.
The database aims to record all periodicals on foreign missions published in Britain,
between the eighteenth century and the 1960s, by missionary societies and commercial publishers,
giving full bibliographical details, information on contents and locations.
The database was compiled by a team of three - Ms. Terry Barringer, formerly librarian of the Royal Commonwealth Society library at Cambridge University Library, David Seton, and Rosemary Seton, Archivist of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
The database is hosted by the Yale University Divinity School Library.
