Commentary: The large synagogue at Gamla is one of the few extant from the period of the Second Temple. You may also see the remains of the synagogue from this period at Masada. The remains of other later synagogues are found throughout the Mediterranean region, in the Land of Israel at Biram and elsewhere, at sites such as Sardis and Ostia.
