Title / Description: Nile Mosaic - Nile scene with lounging woman and hunters.
Provenance: Sepphoris, Israel
Object Type: image - mosaic
Date: Early 5th C. CE

Commentary: This mosaic depicts an Egyptian festivals at the high-water peak of the Nile. Below the Nile are a few hunting scenes. "Alexandria" is written in Greek on the left above the building. Notice the lotus flowers and a crocodile in the Nile. At top center, an engraver is standing on a man's back while engraving a column.
