Title / Description: Qumran (caves): cave 4Q and Wadi Qumran
Provenance: Qumran, Israel
Date: 2nd c. BCE - 1st c. CE

Commentary: Cave 4Q was artificially carved out by its original inhabitants. The cave was the home of hundreds of manuscripts, and was excavated in 1952 after its discovery by the Bedouin, who looted and sold some of the documents that they found there.
