Date: Early Iron Age Commentary: Distribution of settlements in the eastern and western highland zones, during the Early Iron Age. Those west of the Jordan will have included 'Proto-Israelite' elements. In Transjordan the situation is less clear but precursors of the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Eastern Manasseh may have been present.
