Date: 604 B.C.E. Commentary: The spear was a stabbing weapon and consisted of a wodden shaft with a blade or point attached. In general, iron spearpoints were preferred over bronze because of their hardness and ability to hold a sharp edge. This iron spearpoint was found in a 604 B.C.E. destruction layer at Ashkelon.
